Fri 22 Mar 2024 10:45 - 12:00 at Meeting Room E145 - EngageCSEdu

Abstract:

EngageCSEdu is an ACM journal that publishes high-quality, engaging, classroom-tested Open Education Resources (OERs) for secondary and post-secondary computing courses. All accepted contributions use one or more research-based engagement mechanisms aimed at increasing diversity and inclusion in computing classes. The term responsible computing has been defined as the ability to “recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.” (ABET, 2021). In this session, authors of OERs published in our November 2023 (Volume 2 Issue 2) special issue on “Responsible Computing: Embedding Principles, Practices, and Pedagogies” will present their assignments and instructional materials intended for K-12, CS0, CS1, and upper-level computing courses. These OERs can be found in EngageCSEdu’s new ethics and computing repository (https://www.engage-csedu.org/node/20524).
